Are you too hard on yourself?
Most people are.
Surely we should be perfect.
Surely we should handle everything flawlessly,
without ever messing up or being lazy.
If people expect perfection from us,
we get fooled into thinking it is justified.
Everyone wants the best out of you,
we all want the best out of ourselves.
Does self-punishment help with any of that?
It feels like it does,
but maybe it doesn’t.
Maybe it makes us feel stuck to what we don’t like about ourselves.
Maybe it creates things to justify its own existence.
Maybe we should just forget about everything we didn’t get right or didn’t do enough of,
and just get on with our lives.
